Michigan has decided to encourage veteran teachers to take early retirement to cut costs and now is working on a plan for veteran state employees. Is that a good policy?
Give the Kids a Chance
5 years ago I graduated with a degree in Advertising. 3 years ago I began working in purchasing. The inability of finding a job in Michigan right now is staggering and only getting worse. If some of the retirement age workers have the means to retire, it could give new graduates a spot to start in the world. Forcing people to retire is not the answer, but a little nudge may be what we need.
